Burrowing Owls

Burrowing owls are a cross between a chicken and an owl (not biologically, but how they look). They were assigned the Endangered Species status in 1995.

They dwell underground in burrows (hence "burrowing") in prairie like terrain.

Expanding towns and agriculture are diminishing the availability of suitable habitat for these birds.
